The organization also saw some changes in leadership after Henry Scharf\u2019s death.  Charles Wolf recounted:<\/p>\n

On the 14th of December, 1975, when the late Henry M. Scharf, the principal founder of the Eisenhower Society and its first president, was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Mrs. Eisenhower called me over to her car.  She said, “Charlie, now that Henry is gone, I’m going to rely on you to see that the Eisenhower Society gets firmly established.”  She said that she would do everything that she could to help me for as long as she lived, and of course, she did.  Then she said, “I hope and pray that the Eisenhower Society becomes a perpetual living memorial to Ike.” <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Charles Wolf, Reverend Robert MacAskill, LeRoy Smith, John Bex, and General Milnor Roberts assumed prominent roles in the Society, each serving as President in the ensuing decade.<\/p>\n
