Eisenhower's Secret War Documentary

A generous donation was made to filmmaker Dr. George Colburn to aid in the productions of "Eisenhower's Secret War," a two-hour documentary focusing on Eisenhower's decision to run for the Presidency and his determination to maintain peace in the early Cold War years.  This documentary has been shown around the country on PBS.

Eisenhower National Historic Site Internship Program

Each year the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society provides funds to allow for stipends for college students serving as interns.  For twelve weeks, the students research and present talks addressing many aspects of the life and times of Dwight D. Eisenhower, or learning how to preserve artifacts by working with the Eisenhower curatorial collection.  Students return to the classroom with a clear knowledge of public history interpretation, public speaking, and a better understanding of the leadership and legacy of Dwight Eisenhower.

The Eisenhower National Historic Site Cell Phone Tour

As part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society's goal of continuing to educate the public about the legacy of leadership of Dwight Eisenhower, the Society grants the Eisenhower National Historic Site funds to host a tour of that site using cell phone technology.  By entering a telephone number or scanning a QR code, visitors to the site can learn more about many aspects of the only home that Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower ever owned.  Even those unable to visit the site can take advantage of the tour by calling from any phone, cellular or landline, to hear stories and can give useful feedback to the site by leaving a message themselves at the tour's end.

To access the Eisenhower National Historic Site Cell Phone Tour by computer, please visit the site's National Park Service Website.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Senior Self Improvement Award

For the past nine years, the Adams County Economic Education Foundation, in partnership with the Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce, has provided a program aimed at turning around the lives of potential dropouts.

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Senior Self Improvement Award is a $500 cash award to be given to the senior in each Adams County school district who demonstrates the most overall self improvement in grades, attendance, behavior, attitude, effort, and service to others.  A $100 cash award is given to the four runners up.  Awards are presented at a breakfast recognition ceremony each May.
