75th Anniversary of D-Day Seminar:  Co-sponsored with the Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College and the Eisenhower National Historic Site. Held at Gettysburg College. Granddaughter Susan Eisenhower speaks on Eisenhower’s leadership, other noted historians to speak, a preview of a new film on Eisenhower, lunch with book signing opportunity and a panel discussion. Optional tour of the Eisenhower National Historic Site immediately following.

July 20

Annual Picnic:  Our annual Eisenhower Society picnic was enjoyable despite it being the hottest day of the year!  Guests toured the Eisenhower Home, attended a ranger program and participated in the putting contest. More details and photos of the event are available here.

July 27-28

Great War Weekend at Eisenhower National Historic Site:  A living history encampment representing America’s participation in the Great War, talks by guest speakers and park rangers, and Join the Army activities for children are all available to visitors to the farm.  Tour the Eisenhower home and cattle barns as well.  Visit us at the Eisenhower Society display at the event.  Included in site admission.

September 21-22

World War II Weekend: Over 600 living historians will encamp at the Eisenhower National Historic Site.  Demonstrations of military tactics, medicine, communications and more.  Tanks, trucks, and jeeps on display.  Learn about the home front.   Talks by World War II veterans and authors, book signings, and more.  Included in site admission.  Visit us at the Eisenhower Society display at the event. Saturday evening, a USO style dance with the Gettysburg Big Band will be held at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center.  Dance: $10.00 a person (pay at door).  Children free.

Eisenhower Birthday Commemoration: Annual Dwight D. Eisenhower Society commemoration and wreath laying was held at 11:15 a.m. at the Eisenhower Statue, 300 Carlisle Street, Gettysburg College. A buffet luncheon followed the wreath laying at the Dobbin House Restaurant, 89 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg.  This year’s guest speaker was Dr. Michael Neiberg, Chair in War Studies at the Army War College, and author of numerous books on both the Great War and World War II. Dwight D. Eisenhower Society 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner: We held this event at the Gettysburg Hotel to commemorate 50 years of the Society’s work, with noted guests, dinner, and a signature cocktail. Dr. William Hitchcock, author, The Age of Eisenhower, was our guest speaker. See recap and photos here.
